August 20, 2022: World Mosquito Day
August 20, 2022: World Mosquito Day
Respected Principal, Teachers and Friends,
Good
morning to all of you
I am
(……………) of class…………..
Today we
are going to listen about World Mosquito Day.
World
Mosquito Day, recognized each year on August 20, marks the anniversary of the
discovery that mosquitoes transmit the parasite that causes malaria. On this
day in 1897, Sir Ronald Ross discovered the malaria parasite in the stomach
tissue of an Anopheles mosquito. His work later confirmed that
mosquitoes are the vector which carries this devastating parasite from human to
human.
Today,
more than 120 years later, mosquito-borne diseases are still both widespread
and difficult to treat. Even with global efforts to curb their impact on
vulnerable populations, mosquito-borne diseases cause hundreds of thousands of
deaths each year. The mosquito-borne disease with the greatest global
impact is malaria.
This day
is important when it comes to controlling and preventing malaria all around the
world. We may think that we are not able to do anything in this fight, but we
can. One message helps toward the global efforts, and this is what really
matters.
Thank you
and have nice day ahead.
