National Handloom Day

  National Handloom Day Respected Principal, Teachers and Friends, Good morning to all of you I am (……………) of class………….. Today we are going to listen about National Handloom Day. It is commemorated annually on 7 th of August. National Handloom Day is celebrated on the day Swadeshi Movement which was launched in 1905. The Swadeshi movement was a self-sufficiency movement that was part of the Indian independence movement and contributed to the development of Indian nationalism. This day is observed annually to create awareness about Handloom Industry amongst the public at large and its contribution to the socio-economic development. The first National Handloom Day was organised by Prime Minister NarendraModi in 2015 at Chennai.  Handloom sector depicts the nation’s glorious cultural heritage and is also an important source of livelihood for people in the country. As over 70% of handloom weavers and allied workers are women, it acts as a key to women empowerment.

World Biofuel Day is celebrated on August 10 in memory of Sir Rudolf Diesel, inventor of the diesel engine. On August 9, 1893, Sir Rudolf Diesel for the first time operated a mechanical engine with peanut oil. His experiment could foresee the use of vegetable oil as a practical source of energy in the coming century. World Biofuel Day is celebrated to commemorate this experiment.             Biofuels not only help in ensuring a cleaner environment but also generate additional income and employment in rural areas. This year we are celebrating it on 11 th of August. RakshaBandhan is a festival of brother and sister. Raksha means protection, and bandhan means bond. The brother promises to protect his sister. They both promise to protect their loving bond. On this day, everyone wears new traditional clothes. Sister ties beautiful rakhi on brother’s wrist. She applies tilak on his forehead and gives sweets to him. Brother gives her presents like dresses, chocolates or money. People also tie rakhi on their vehicles and pet animals. Today is the death anniversary of Neil Armstrong. He was an American astronaut and aeronautical engineer, and the first person to walk on the Moon. He was also a naval aviator, test pilot, and university professor. Armstrong was born and raised in Ohio. A graduate of Purdue University, he studied aeronautical engineering. He became a midshipman in 1949 and a naval aviator the following year. Armstrong joined the NASA Astronaut Corps in the second group, which was selected in 1962. He made his first spaceflight as command pilot of Gemini 8 in March 1966, becoming NASA's first civilian astronaut to fly in space. When Armstrong first stepped onto the lunar surface, he famously said: "That's one small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind."  Thank you

Today we are going to listen about Ernest Lawrence.   Ernest Orlando Lawrence was an American  nuclear physicist  and winner of the  Nobel Prize in Physics  in 1939 for his invention of the  cyclotron . He is known for his work on  uranium-isotope separation  for the  Manhattan Project , as well as for founding the  Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory  and the  Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory . A graduate of the  University of South Dakota  and  University of Minnesota , Lawrence obtained a  PhD  in physics at  Yale  in 1925. In 1928, he was hired as an associate professor of physics at the  University of California, Berkeley , becoming the youngest full professor there two years later.
