National Handloom Day
National
Handloom Day
Respected Principal, Teachers and Friends,
Good
morning to all of you
I am
(……………) of class…………..
Today we
are going to listen about National Handloom Day.
It is
commemorated annually on 7th of August.
National
Handloom Day is celebrated on the day Swadeshi Movement which was launched in
1905.
The
Swadeshi movement was a self-sufficiency movement that was part of the Indian
independence movement and contributed to the development of Indian nationalism.
This day
is observed annually to create awareness about Handloom Industry amongst the
public at large and its contribution to the socio-economic development.
The first
National Handloom Day was organised by Prime Minister NarendraModi in 2015 at
Chennai.
Handloom
sector depicts the nation’s glorious cultural heritage and is also an important
source of livelihood for people in the country.
As over
70% of handloom weavers and allied workers are women, it acts as a key to women
empowerment.
On
National Handloom Day, we salute all those associated with our vibrant handloom
and handicrafts sector.
They have
made commendable efforts to preserve the indigenous crafts of our nation.
Thank you
and have nice day ahead.
